Hiking & mountaineering in Lofer
Up the mountains when the morning dew is still glistening...
... this is the right slogan for all those who love to pack their rucksacks, lace up their walking boots and leave everyday life far behind whilst hiking and mountaineering in Lofer. In harmony with nature, discover the diverse flora and fauna of the Almenwelt Lofer alpine world – Austria’s most beautiful hiking alp! Various themed hiking paths, such as the discovery trail "Auf die Alm" (on the alp), a large play area, the "Rote Marmorsee" (red marble lake) and rustic mountain chalets serving food and beverages to the public leave no room for children to become bored! A particularly attractive trail destination is the Litzlalm snack station above Hirschbichl.
True mountain fans simply have to conquer the 2,506m-high Mitterhorn, and replenish themselves at the cosy Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte on the way to the second-highest peak of the Loferer Steinberge, or even spend the night there. Many via ferrata, such as the "Nackte Hund" (naked dog) or "Ende Nie" (never-ending), challenge all climbers throughout their routes. Or you can go for one of the many peaks of the Reither Steinberge, the highest elevation of which is the 2,286 m-high "Stadelhorn". We can promise this to you now: Unforgettable mountain experiences and sensational panoramic views!
Those who do not wish to ascend the mountains alone have the possibility to scale the highest peaks accompanied by certified mountain and hiking guides. And the best: Use the many benefits of the Salzburger Saalachtal Card and allow yourself to be transported to the Almenwelt Lofer quickly, comfortably and free of charge using the Almbahn I+II.
