Tobogganing in the Saalachtal

Whereas the toboggan was formerly an important aid for farmers, and therefore can reflect on a long tradition, today tobogganing is a fun pastime activity for the whole family! First, you walk together up through a snowy winter landscape, and then you speed back down into the valley again on two runners. There are several natural toboggan runs in the region available to our guests, which are maintained on a daily basis and are romantically illuminated in the evenings. Prior to your journey down into the valley, you should fortify yourself and enjoy the rustic mountain chalet charm with its culinary delights.
The sonorous name "Maria Kirchental" designates a beautiful natural toboggan run, which leads into the valley of St. Martin via a 2.1 km-long track. In the evening, the track is idyllically illuminated, and a particular highlight is the torch-lit tobogganing event occurring once a week. A visit to the cosy Kirchentalwirt inn is recommended to warm and fortify you prior to your toboggan excursion. The more than 4 km-long Biberg toboggan run in Saalfelden (20 km away) also promises top-class toboggan fun! It, too, is illuminated daily until approx. 2:00 a.m., and a "toboggan tractor" facilitates the ascent!
